Abstract: | Knitted jackets from the beginning of the seventeenth century are preserved in numerous collections worldwide, but there is unexploited research about their history and stylistic similarities and differences. International examples are mentioned and the technological aspects of five selected objects are compared. Historical and recent methods for securing lacunae are presented and examined on the basis of a test series. One of the methods evaluated was selected as a model for treatment for the conservation and restoration of a knitted jacket from the MAK – Museum for Applied Arts / Contemporary Art. |
