Abstract: | "Dietkirchener Kruzifix" about the 12th century Rhineland, area of Cologne/Bonn RLMB, inv. n° V 151 wooden corpus, formerly with painting cross joists lost dimensions: 102,0 cm x 19,8 cm x 23,1 cm Aim of this diploma thesis is to develop a conservation and restoration strategy to optimate - by considering the object´s history - the visual phenotype of the "Dietkirchener Kruzifix";. The main emphasis of this work includes the research of the material wood, a short study of works with source material character of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century for the use of paint strippers, wooden coatings and materials for puttings and a sientific research for identifying the materials. Building on this knowlegde the further main emphasis follows this work. A treatment concept made, ist recommended materials and methods will be checked and confirmed with test areas at the object. |
