Abstract: | This diploma thesis deals with the conservation and restoration of three porcelain assemblages owned by the Piatti family from the room of shards in Loosdorf Castle. The collection was destroyed during the Second World War and since then has only existed in fragments. Research into the history of art and culture revealed that the treated convolutes come from three European manufactories, the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory and the Wedgwood Manufactory. Fourteen objects are reconstructed from 120 shards. They are scientifically analysed and documented in regards to their composition and condition. In the concept, current developments in the conservation and restoration of porcelain are discussed and selected measures are implemented on the objects. |
