Abstract: | The problem of the consolidation of composite objects is well known, as one often has to decide on certain components with regard to the consolidation. The objective of this bachelor's thesis is to focus on one of the organic components of a wet-stored object and to examine its already conserved condition. The object dealt with here is a baroque child's coffin excavated at Schlossplatz Berlin. The coffin consists of a wooden base frame covered with textiles and leather and decorated with gilded rivets. This was conserved with various PEGs after recovery. The main focus of the work will be on the leather, objectively analysing its current condition. |
