Abstract: | This work presents a medieval altar fragment from the monastery of Ebstorf. After its discovery in the monastery of Ebstorf, it was stored in the restoration workshop of the Klosterkammer Hannover. As a result of unsuitable storage in the past, various damages occurred and some components of the altar were lost. The setting is only fragmentary and in many areas badly damaged and dirty. Nevertheless, some of the historical techniques can be found in the remains of the setting, which require a more detailed study. Thus the goal of this work is to devise and implement a conservation concept, in which the emphasis is on consolidation and cleaning. This is followed by an art-historical consideration, an investigation of the historical techniques and a conditional examination of the object. |
