Abstract: | The archaeological discovery of the Schöninger spears has given the unique opportunity for science to take a look at the lives of people 300.000 years ago. At the same time, the decision to excavate and conserve these waterlogged finds requires that they be preserved in the best possible way for the future. The exhibited spears should therefore be subject for constant observation, taking all influencing factors into account and applying latest methods. Which measuring method could be suitable for a specific monitoring of any possible dimensional changes? This work deals with the question if photogrammetry as a three-dimensional, contactless measuring method is suitable for dimensional monitoring on the basis of preliminary experimental studies. The basis for this is the distance comparison of photogrammetrically generated 3D point clouds, which have been calculated on the basis of different image associations. |
