Abstract: | This diploma thesis attends to the flaking offs at burnish gilded porcelain. Analyzing the manufacturing process, especially the types of gilding, technique of burning kiln and some theories off assignable causes. The causes of damage and the reference objects have been researched by literature, museums, manufactures and some branch specialists. From the range of possible causes most of them could be eliminated. It was not possible to diagnose the exact reason in the allocated time period for this diploma thesis. The results of the researches pointed to a multi complex cause of several factors. Most likely the cause is an combination between a faulty manufacture and an improperly storage in the museum. Additional to the theoretic work, several tests to refasten the flaking of the burnish gilding was made, to find a way to conserve the gilding at the old porcelain vase from the Vienna manufactory. |
