Abstract: | This diploma thesis concerns the canvas painting “Madonna and Child” of the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg of possible Italian origin that was dated back to the end of the 16th / beginning of the 17th century. As a previous conservative measure its front was covered with a paper facing fixed by means of a mixture of beeswax and ketone resin. After its removal an intensively modified surface was revealed including double lining, a change in format, surface reduction and an intensive over painting. |
