Abstract: | The practical part of this diploma documents the technical analysis and damage detection and also the preservation and restoration of the main panel of a late-gothic Annenaltar, constructed in 1505. The altar of the village church in Langenchursdorf represents three saint figures on the main panel. The polychrome paintings and decoration of the altar retable are conserved authentically. Along with the preservation and a restrained restoration, the restoration concept focuses on a change of composition in the 18th century. The theoretical part of this diploma investigates the presentation of the altar retable in the church of Langenchursdorf. Based on seven case studies, different aspects and possibilities of displaying by means of a metal construction will be introduced and discussed. |
