Eva Merle: Fibrous Pulps with Various Binders to be used for closing of Lacunae in Easel Paintings back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:
Abstract: This thesis introduces and evaluates materials to be used as components of fibrous putties. As binders, Paraloid B 72, Plextol B 500 and BEVA and a mix of sturgeon glue and rice starch glue are combined with hand-cut linnen-fibers and Arbocel cellulose fibers BC 1000 and BWW 40. Test pieces are shaped out of the pure materials and combinations and tested for their stability at load and expansibility. The results show, that putties made with sturgeon glue are the most stable but least expansible. Mixtures containing Plextol B 500 or BEVA Hot-Sealing Adhesive show the best expansibility. The choice of the used kind of fiber seems to have little influence on tensile load capacity.
