Overview:

Abstract: The since 1866 closed-down Nicolai-cemetary is part of an over 700 years old classified historical monument ensemble in the middle of the centre of Hanover. Its stock of monuments included important sculptures of Hanoverian renaissance sculptors. Above all the southern part of the cemetery is in a poor condition. The present works is supposed to create public interest for this cultural monument. An assessment of damage will be carried out and a catalogue of measures will be made out with suggestions for the conservation and restauration. Contributions to the history of the Nicolai-cemetary and a list of all monuments of the southern part complete the work.
