Zusammenfassung: | The aim of this theses was to find out appropriate materials and techniques to secure and present the tempera paintings of the calotte of St. Georg Church in Gimritz. Investigation of the murals adduce information about different surface decorations from the foundation of the church in 1847, until the new decoration in the 1920`s and the current renovation at the end of the 20. century. The investigations focusses on the original decoration of the church room in 1926 by Karl Völker. Source and literature enquiries were made in the archives of the towns Halle and Magdeburg. The decoration phases, verified at the object, were compared with data of the building history and the archive material and connected with the historical context. Beside to the diagnose and documentation of existing damage phenomenon and their reasons, a further focus of the theses was to secure the paintings. Different organically and inorganic materials for consolidation and preservation of the paintlayers were tested. By reason of the endangered condition of the egg tempera by microbial decomposition of the bounding agents and the possibly consequences of using cellulose ethers. In this context tests with the detected microorganisms were made. Followed by reflections on treatment with fungicides. In cause of the results of tested specimen to conserve the coats of the apsis it was possible to formulate recommendations for a lasting conservation. |
