Zusammenfassung: | The subject of this Master-Thesis is an altar retable from the church of Wieserode. This object is very particular in as much as it comprises of three altar components from different periods. The small-scale architecture is based on a winged altar from the late Gothic, i.e. between 1480-1500, and is framed by a triptych and an aedicula from 1615. In the course of this constructive integration, parts of the winged altar were reconstructed and adapted. The objective was to discuss the arisen damage and its causes, in order to establish an extensive compilation of inventory and condition and to examine the used press brocade, the stratigraphy the wood anatomy and UV-fluorescence analysis, to finally create a concept of appropriate measures for the conservation and restoration. Further attention then focused on the elevated level of difficulty, to present the altar retable with all its additions and redesign as a unified entity. |
