Zusammenfassung: | During the 1980 th the late medieval wall painting in Jena‐Lobeda’s parish church “St. Peter”, depicting the Virgin on the crescent moon, got soaked by water what had been running down the outer wall due to a defect pipe. In combination with soluble salts, this caused bad damages and alterations like cavities between rendering and bricks. Also parts of the painted layer lost their adherence to the ground and discolouration of the surface appeared on the painting. The aim of the present diploma was to develop a concept to conserve and restore the wall painting as well as to apply the former on a test area. Following a general record of the wall painting’s condition, this study’s main emphasis was put on examining the moisture of the wall, the soluble salts and the origin of the discoloration. In the test area the cavity of some centimetres between the rendering and the bricks was filled with a special foam‐mortar. At present knowledge the dark discolorations of the surface are not removable. For this reason their margins got a treatment by retouching. |
