Zusammenfassung: | The problem of microbiologically caused rosy discoloration of salt-loaded wall paintings and plaster surfaces is known for more than 50 years, however it has not been possible yet to cultivate and isolate the halophilic archaeon Halalkalicoccus sp. that was recognized to be the cause of this phenomenon. The current state of research will be presented, followed by the analysis of the rosy discoloration of nine sites using microscopic and molecular techniques (PCR, gel-electrophoresis, DNA-sequencing) in order to identify the organism causing the discoloration and to define its state of activity. Furthermore a microscopic analysis of salt efflorescence and histochemical tests of the mortar substrate with a focus on lime, plaster and hydraulic content will be carried out to determine the archaeon’s growth factors. |
