Zusammenfassung: | This bachelor’s thesis deals with stamping inks diffused into the emulsion layer of photographs on silver gelatine paper and the possibility of removing these inks. Different stamping inks are dissolved out by applying surface-active substances which use the physical processes of adsorptivity and stronge capillary forces. Surface-active substances are for example pads, gels or pastes soaked with solvents. This thesis gives an overview of the general components of stamping inks and of the structure of silver gelatine papers. In the next step it describes the process of stamping ink diffusion in different emulsion layers due to its physical characteristics. It was necessary to set up an experimental series in order to dissolve out the stamping inks by applying different techniques and substances. In the end, one of the selected methods is applied to a historical photograph on silver gelatine paper marked with stamping ink. |
