Zusammenfassung: | To join pieces of a broken artwork made of wax is due to it´s material properties quite demanding. The possibilities and limits of the following joining technologies have been explored: adhesive bonding, use of armour (anchor bolt) and diffusion bonding. Particular attention was paid to the application of the "theory of adhesion" to the material wax. For the joining technology of adhesive bonding, three innovative methods of surface preparation to improve adhesion mechanism have been developed: a special adhesion-promoting-agent on the basis of Laropal A81, a type of plasma modification of the surface with an atmospheric pressure plasma device and the application of a textile structure on the fracture surface. All methods lead to an improvement of the bond. With the results of the test series and after statistical calculations, a concept of conservation for the contemporary wax sculptures Chevalier d’Eon by Milivoj Bijelic has been created. |
