| Abstract: | The diploma thesis focuses on 54 elements of the installation artwork “White Space in White Space/ Biely priestor v bielom priestore” (1973-1982). The artwork can be attributed to the Czechoslovakian artist collective consisting of Stano Filko, Miloṧ Laky and Ján Zavarský. It came into being in 1973 and was developed further concerning the material composition until 1982, with different participation of the beforementioned artists of the collective. The 54 elements are in possession of Sammlung Kontakt of the Erste Stiftung in Vienna. The elements assessed in this diploma thesis are composed of various materials. It is possible to differentiate between six different material groups. These are being assessed and described using comparative analysis methods. Therefor a specifically developed, tabular system has been made, that also includes the possibility to include the singular existing phenomena within each object. The condition of each element has been assessed through photographic and tabular measures. A methodical approach towards the restoration and conservation treatment of installation artworks has been developed. The condition of the singular elements has been noted down, described and classified thoroughly for the first time in order to create a conservation and restauration concept concerning multifold objects located within different institutions. Finally, recommendations for handling, packaging, pest management and transportation were developed. |
