| Abstract: |
This bachelor thesis examines the cladding of a church gallery in the collegiate church of Bad-Gandersheim, which dates to the mid- 17th or 18th century, from both an art historical and art technological perspective. The aim is to analyze the origin, use, and materiality of this cladding and to develop recommendations for its conservation. During the investigation, additional components were idendified which likely also belonged to the original gallery cladding. The methodology includes the evaluation of historical sources, on-site material analysis, and documentation of the current condition as well as changes caused by environmental influences. Based on the findings, a conservation concept was developed and partially implemented in practice. Thus, the thesis contributes to the safeguarding and study of the artistic and cultural heritage of the collegiate church and provides an exemplary approach for the conservation of similar objects.
