| Abstract: | In this master’s thesis, five commercial fixatives—Rewin ACP, Cartafix WE, Cartafix CB, Cartafix DPR, and Optifix E50—were tested for use with dye-based inks. The tests were carried out using samples. These were made from d’ARCHES paper and written on with two self-made dye inks (red and blue), an alizarin ink, and the bought writing ink “Leipziger Schwarz.” The fixatives were used in diluted form (10% and 1%) and in undiluted form. They were applied with a brush and a squeegee. After the fixatives had dried, the samples were soaked in water to test how well the inks were fixed. The results were evaluated with a focus on the fixing effect of the five products. |
